PR-1771 Class B is a non-chromate, low density, corrosion inhibitive sealant. It has a service temperature of -54°C (-65°F) to 121°C (250°F), with intermittent excursions up to 135°C (275°F). It is designed for aircraft fuselage sealing applications, such as exterior butt joints and aerodynamic smoothing, where a flexible elastomeric seal is required to prevent intrusion of moisture and provide protection from the common causes of corrosion. It provides a weight saving of as much as 40 percent over traditional sealants used for these purposes. PR-1771 Class B is a two-part, manganese dioxide cured, Permapol® P-5* modified polysulfide. The uncured material is a low sag paste suitable for application by extrusion gun or spatula. The cured material is resistant to aircraft fuels, petroleum based oils and deterioration by intermittent exposure to diphosphate ester hydraulic fluids. *Chromium is not intentionally added in the formulation of this product. PPG’s “chrome free” statement is based on our knowledge of the product formulation.

Naftoseal® MC-216 Class B is a two component, manganese-dioxide cured polysulfide polymer system where easy separation of joined surfaces is required e.g. access doors. It has outstanding resistance to aviation gasoline and jet fuel, as well as resistance to the chemicals and petroleum products used in the aircraft industry. Naftoseal® MC-216 Class B remains flexible and keeps a low bond strength on most metal substrates like aluminum, stainless steel, steel, titanium, composite and many coatings under extremes of temperature, weathering and stress. Naftoseal® MC-216 Class B can be mixed by MCI-Mixer (Techkits as well as Semkits) or by appropriate 2-component mixing and dosing systems. The mixed compound is a thixotropic paste easily applied by extrusion, injection gun, spatula or brush. It has excellent tooling properties. The curing time may be reduced considerably by increasing the temperature (up to 60 °C / 140 °F max). The cured Naftoseal® MC-216 B has low adhesion and forms a tough gasket, rubbery enough to mold itself to surface irregularities.

Naftoseal® MC-460 Class A & Class B are two-component, fast curing and flame-retardant sealants on base of Polysulfide with low density designed for sealing operations where good adhesion as well as removability of the seal for maintenance purposes is important. The cured Naftoseal® MC-460 sealants are elastic and build up fast a good adhesion to the floor panels. Thus, these sealants are especially appropriate to fill gaps between floor panels with sandwich structure as used for aircraft construction. At maintenance times the cured Naftoseal® MC-460 sealants can be removed easily by means of appropriate tools (like e.g. a plastic spatula) without harming the floor panels or even the supporting structure. To allow optimum filling of different gap widths, Naftoseal® MC-460 sealants are available in two viscosity versions: Naftoseal® MC-460 Class A is pourable whereas Class B is pastelike. Naftoseal® MC-460 sealants are available in Techkit 130 and can be mixed with the MCI Mixer and can be applied with a standard pneumatic sealant gun.
